Most people only live half a life
Constantly desiring pleasure and avoiding pain
They choose to live in blissful ignorance
Oblivious to the suffering of the world
And the torment within themselves
Choosing to ignore, repress, and distract
From the shadow of their own mind
Is to sweep things under the rug
To keep up appearances for the neighbours
Which is fake
Which is ego
A fragile, hollow, fearful existence
Devoid of true meaning
But what is ignored festers
And like a sore, gradually seeps into the conscious
An ever increasing hammering at the door
Getting louder and louder
Until one is eventually forced to answer
The key to salvation
To living a whole and complete life
Lies in that which we don't want to see
So look at it, give attention
Embrace it as integral to the whole
And in doing so see through the whole thing!
In the transcendence of good and bad
Lies the peace that was always present
Just waiting to be remembered
